Our Roots

Trailblazer Tutoring was founded by local Washington high schooler Amy Zhao. Having been an avid reader for years, Amy wrote her very first book while she was in elementary school. That was where her journey started. She went on to write many more books, and as she did so, she was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the community.

Amy was featured in the Bothell-Kenmore Reporter. Third Place Books, the largest indie bookstore chain in Washington state, put her books onto their shelves, where they would quickly become bestsellers for multiple months.

From hosting events with libraries and bookstores across the country, to doing author classroom visits with both private and public schools, Amy soon found herself quite busy. And more parents kept asking her one thing: Could she tutor their kids in English?

And so finally, the summer right before high school, Amy rolled up her sleeves and founded Trailblazer Tutoring.

Our belief is simple:

Readers become writers.

Writers become great communicators.

And great communicators become exemplary leaders.

Every child has the potential to achieve their dreams.

And as Amy always liked to say: “Read. Write. Bring your dreams to life.”
